Teaching for a Brighter World
At McMaster, we’re advancing human and societal health and well-being.
We do that through innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
Combined with groundbreaking research and a commitment to collaboration, faculty, staff and students are working together to find creative solutions to complex challenges.
We’re pioneers of problem-based learning – a unique, hands-on approach to learning that originated in our medical school in 1969 and has been adopted throughout the university and around the world.
Our commitment to students has most recently been recognized with a Global Teaching Excellence Award from the Higher Education Academy in partnership with Times Higher Education.
The 2018 Global Teaching Excellence Award recognizes McMaster’s rich history of educational innovation, our award-winning educators and our commitment to making Canada’s most research-intensive university a world leader in teaching and learning. Highlighting our experiential learning opportunities, our global engagement and the work of the MacPherson Institute, this international award honours our ongoing responsibility to provide the best possible learning experience for our students.
